The No. 20 Missouri Tigers gymnastics squad traveled to Saint Charles, Mo., to compete in the Mardi Gras Invitational on Friday. The Tigers matchup against No. 21 George Washington, No. 4 LSU, and No. 8 Arkansas in a four-team meet. Amongst some high-tier competition, Mizzou held their own and showed why they may continue to move up in the gymnastics rankings. The Tigers placed second overall at the meet while Arkansas placed fourth,  George Washington placed third, and LSU placed first.

Mizzou dominated the vault, and this was a big reason why the Tigers placed so high. Out of six vault competitors for the Tigers, five scored a 9.8 or above. Two Tigers scored 9.9s. MU finished the vault with a score of 49.25.

The Tigers struggled a bit on the bars as they finished with a score of 48.3, but they came back on the beam. Five out of six Tigers scored a 9.8 or above, but Brooke Kelly and Britney Ward led the way with their respective scores of 9.925 and 9.95. This led MU to finish the beam with a score of 49.375.

The Tigers also scored extremely well on the floor as they sealed the deal with a 49.1 finish. MU finished the meet with a score of 196.025. This was enough to beat George Washington and Arkansas by roughly half a point. However, MU finished behind LSU by over two points.

Mizzou will next compete in Lexington, Kentucky against the Kentucky Wildcats on Feb. 23.
