The University of Missouri volleyball team defeated the University of Arkansas in straight sets (25-15, 25-19, 25-23) on Friday night.

This is Missouri’s third consecutive victory and its first sweep since Sept. 15 when the Tigers defeated Boise State.

Missouri’s balanced attack once again led the charge as the junior trio of Kylie Deberg, Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana, and Tyanna Omazic combined for 33 kills on the night. Interim Head Coach Joshua Taylor was pleased with the spread-out attack.

“We set the tone early tonight and I thought we were pretty consistent offensively throughout.” Said Taylor, “A lot of different players enjoyed success and a lot of credit goes to Andrea (Fuentes) for distributing the ball effectively.”

Fuentes recorded 38 assists in the match to go along with two kills and two aces.

Missouri took the momentum near the end of the first set, closing the set on an 11 to two scoring run.

The second set was tied 18 to 18 before Missouri snagged control to win the set. The third set finished with excitement as Arkansas put together a six to two run near the end of the match before Missouri was able to put it away.

Missouri improves to 13-4 on the year and 5-2 in conference. The Tigers host Mississippi State on Sunday.

Arkansas falls to 7-13 overall and 1-8 in conference. The Razorbacks will take on Auburn at home on Sunday.
