The University of Missouri’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams respectively won its meets against Southern Illinois on Friday. The women’s team won its meet by a score of 174 to 111. The men’s team won by a score of 180 to 111.

Senior Micah Slaton won the 200 fly and seniors Nick Alexander and Jennifer King swept the 200 back.

Missouri head coach Andrew Grevers was happy with the performance of his seniors.

“Each and every one of our seniors performed well today,” Grevers said. “They showed the team exactly what it means to be a Missouri Tiger and left it all in the water. I couldn’t be happier with our final dual of the season.”

Some younger swimmers also saw success for Missouri. Junior Grant Reed won both the 50 free and 200 free while Allison Bloebaum found victory in the 500 free and the 1000 free.

Junior Sarah Thompson recorded a personal-best in the 200 free. She won the race with a time of 1:48.64.

Joseph Gutierrez also set a personal-best in the 1000 free with a time of 9:14.26.

Missouri also fought through illness to win the meet today said Grevers.

The men’s team is now 8-0 on the year and the women’s team improves to 7-2. The teams are now preparing for the SEC Championships in Auburn, Ala.

“We’re excited to prepare for SECs and show the SEC what Zou Style is,” said Grevers.

The championships are Feb. 18-22 at Auburn University.
