The Men’s and Women’s Swim & Dive teams had a busy afternoon on Friday at their Show Me Showdown where they opened up their season against ten other Missouri colleges.

The women scored a dominating 752 points, followed by Missouri State with 387.5, led by senior Haley Hynes with two individual wins in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke. She also helped her relay team win in the 200-yard medley relay, along with freshman Molly Winer, junior Sarah Thompson and sophomore Megan Keil.

The men also had a strong performance putting up 721 points with Missouri State taking second with 413. The men were led by senior Nick Alexander, sophomore Jack Dubois and freshman diver Leonardo Garcia Varela with two individual wins a piece. Alexander took the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard backstroke, Dubois took first in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle. Garcia Varela took first on the boards in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.

After this strong start to their season, the Tigers are hoping to carry their momentum into their next meet at Mizzou Aquatic Center Oct. 18, which is a dual against the Florida Gators. The Gators have a 3-0 meet record, outscoring their opponents 636-186. This will be a competitive conference matchup to open up both of their SEC seasons.
