The Missouri Tiger’s women’s basketball team, who are currently ranked sixteenth in the nation, has been absolutely destroying teams this season. Since losing their first game to Western Kentucky, Mizzou had won their last twelve games going into Sunday night’s game against Alabama. This incredible winning streak would continue for the Tigers on New Year’s Eve as they barely slipped by the Crimson Tide 62-56. This marked Mizzou’s thirteenth win in a row.

Although Alabama only had three players score in double-digits and only four players to score over four points, they somehow stayed in the game. Guard Shaquera Wade and Hannah Cook led the Crimson Tide in scoring as both had eleven points. Jordan Lewis also played well, totaling ten points on the night.

For the Tigers, only two players scored in double-digits. Jordan Chavis led the team in scoring with seventeen points. This tied her career high. Sophie Cunningham also scored in the double-digits as she finished with thirteen points.

Alabama struggled shooting the ball from everywhere on the floor but the free throw line. The shot only twenty-nine percent from the floor and just nineteen percent from three-point range.

Mizzou shot nearly forty percent from the floor. They shot the lights out from three-point land as they finished with a ridiculous forty-six percent from deep. The Tigers struggled keeping the ball however as they totaled eighteen turnovers on the game.

This match against Alabama was the Tiger’s first SEC game of the season, and the win put Mizzou at 13-1 on the season. MU will next look for their fourteenth win in a row at home against LSU on January 4th.
