Mizzou defeated the visiting Alabama Crimson Tide 69-50 on Saturday, to close out the regular season. This was Alabama’s lowest scoring game since January 6, 2018.

The senior night victory marked the 50th win for head coach Cuonzo Martin. Reed Nikko was the lone senior celebrated.

Redshirt junior Dru Smith led the team in scoring with 17 points and grabbing a season best in assists with eight. Smith climbed to sixth on the all-time Mizzou steals sheet with 64.

The Tigers went into the locker room up 1 in a 21-20 contest. A 10-0 run in the second half by the Tigers created some distance which led to the win. The Tide never had a chance after the lead was extended into double-digits.

Mark Smith’s accuracy from the three was crucial. Smith grabbed 13 points and a steal. Mitchell Smith scored 10 points and went 4-for-4 from the field. Reed Nikko put up three points, three rebounds, and a block, in his Mizzou Arena finale. Jeremiah Tilmon recorded eight points and a season-high nine rebounds.

This was only Mizzou’s fourth win over Alabama ever. The last Mizzou victory over the Tide dates back to January 18, 2014.

Up next, Mizzou will take on Texas A&M in the first round of the SEC tournament. The game will take place on Thursday at the Bridgestone Arena, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Thank you to Reed Nikko and all you have done for Mizzou over the past four years. We wish you nothing but the best.
