The Mizzou Women’s Basketball team kept its winning streak alive with a 91-57 win over Lamar Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers were led by freshman Sophie Cunningham who scored 27 points, secured six rebounds and dished out three assists. Cunningham is now averaging 16.2 points per game this season.

Rain was in the forecast Sunday afternoon in Mizzou Arena as eight different Tigers drained threes from long distance. The Tigers scorched the Cardinals hitting 16 of 40 shots from downtown compared to Lamar’s five made three pointers.

Mizzou got off to a hot start scoring 28 points in the first quarter, 14 coming from Cunningham. The Tigers dominated the first half scoring 47 points which was the seventh time Mizzou has scored over 40 points in the first half this season.

Jordan Frericks had a game-high nine rebounds, and she also scored 11 points and added three assists and had two steals. Sierra Michaelis scored nine points connecting on three shots from behind the arch and also had a career season-high five assists.

Mizzou outrebound Lamar 53-31 and scored 23 second-chance points to Lamar’s five. Although the Tigers turned the ball over 20 times to the Cardinals 15, Mizzou scored 22 points off of turnovers compared to only eight by Lamar.
