The Mizzou women’s basketball team opened up their season Friday Nov. 27th at Mizzou Arena versus the North Alabama Lions. With a solid performance the Tigers won their first game of the season 96-78. The win was led by three Tigers who scored in double figures and multiple double-double performances. Big performances from sophomore forward Hayley Frank and sophomore guard Aijha Blackwell both hitting double-doubles. 

Picking up where they left off a year ago these two sophomores were dominant on the court. Frank led the Tigers in scoring with 24 points and 11 rebounds, making this her first career double-double. Blackwell not coming too far from behind with 21 points and 10 rebounds, making this her eighth career double-double. LaDazhia Williams, Tigers redshirt junior also was also in the mix scoring 18 points and had five rebounds. 

The Tigers did not start off too strong in the first half, but Mizzou hit a turning point in the second half, out scoring the lions 60-39 in the final 20 minutes of the game, locking in the win. The Tigers opened the second half on a 15-1 run putting the game back in the Tigers favor. Frank’s three pointer with 6:40 left in the third quarter put the Tigers up 51-40 keeping the run going. 

The Tigers next game against St. Lous University got postponed, but they take on Morehead State Eagles this Wednesday, Dec. 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at Mizzou Arena. While the North Alabama Lions take on Purdue Sunday, Nov. 29th at 5:00 p.m. in West Lafayette.
