Women’s Swimming Starts Strong Against SIU and Kentucky

The Missouri women’s swimming and diving team finished day one with five victories in a meet between the Tigers, Southern Illinois and Kentucky.

The story of the day was Katharine Ross, who remained perfect in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:03.33, over two seconds ahead of Missouri teammate Lauren Stoeckle. Ross is 3-0 in 100m breaststroke races on the season.

Ross also contributed in Missouri’s win in the 400m medley relay with teammates Madison Bridges, Danielle Barbiea, and Anna Patterson. The team clocked in at 3:46.38.

Patterson also had a big day winning in the 100m freestyle with a time of 51.92. The sophomore also tied for the win in the 50m freestyle with a time of 23.76.

Missouri’s other win came from Bridges, who won the 100m with a time of 57.43. Bridges came in first ahead of teammate Junior Emily Doucette, who clocked in at 57.89.

Ross and Patterson will continue to build on their success, while the Tigers will look for more victories in day two of the tri-meet on Friday in Carbondale, Illinois.
