Saturday, Jan. 31 –

It was business as usual Saturday night at the Hearnes Center, as the Missouri wrestling team dominated the Northern Iowa Panthers.

In a commanding 33-6 win, the No. 3 ranked Tigers improved to 18-0 on the season, tying the program’s all-time record in single season wins.

Alan Waters foreshadowed the team’s impressive night to come in its first match, as the took on No. 6 Dylan Peters. Waters won handily in a 10-1 major decision.

Sophomore Zach Synon followed with a 6-0 decision win for the Tigers, then No. 6 Lavion Mayes added a 12-4 victory.

Missouri proceeded to continually top itself as No. 1 Drake Houdashelt easily took care of Tyler Patten, winning in a 17-2 technical pin.

No. 12 Cooper Moore grabbed the Panthers first match of the night, as he barely edged out Mikey England in a 4-3 decision.

The Tigers bounced back in striking fashion with a Johnny Eblen 9-1 major decision victory, followed by a ridiculous 24-second pin from freshman Willie Miklus.

The pin was Miklus’ 10th pin of the season, capturing one of six bonus points wins for Mizzou on the night.

The 197-pound matchup featured Missouri’s No. 1 J’Den Cox and Northern Iowa’s Basil Minto. Cox rolled, picking up a victory by a 16-4 major decision.

With only two MAC duels remaining, the Tigers have the chance to finish out a perfect regular season. They travel to Buffalo for their next match on Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. CT.
