The University of Missouri wrestling team traveled over to Boone, North Carolina, on Friday night to take on a tough Appalachian State team. The Tigers had no problem as they dominated their way to a 41-6 convincing victory.

The Tigers began the night strong as redshirt sophomore Barlow McGhee and redshirt juniors Zach Synon and Matt Manley all won by decision. Manley’s victory brought his win total to 25 on the year, posting a new career high.

Later in the evening redshirt junior Lavion Mayes blew out his opponent with his first technical fall of the season. Mayes won 19-4 and put his season record at 23-0.

Following Mayes on the night were redshirt seniors Le’Roy Barnes and Blaise Butler, along with redshirt freshman Daniel Lewis. Barnes and Butler both pinned their opponents, while Lewis won by a 14-7 decision.

Redshirt sophomore Willie Miklus dominated once again, as he had the quickest pin of the night at 1:16.

J’den Cox defeated his opponent by pinning him at 4:06. Cox is now only two wins away from his 100th career win.

The 41 points is the highest score the Tigers have recorded this season and the highest since Feb. 6, 2015, when they defeated Buffalo 43-6.

The Tigers will now look to finish the regular season this Sunday as they travel to N.C. State to take on the No. 3-ranked Wolfpack.
