Sunday, Feb. 15-

Mizzou women’s golf began the spring half of their 2014-2015 season with a ninth place finish at the Seminole Match Up in Tallahassee, Fla., posting a score of 28-over par.

The Tigers finished 16 shots behind No. 26 Furman, who took the tournament title. No. 17 Virginia and No. 9 Mississippi State finished 19-over par to tie for second place.

Freshman Clara Young once again led the team, shooting 2-under par in the third round to post an impressive fifth-place finish. The Scottish native birdied two of the final nine holes to close the tournament just 1-over par, only three shots off the lead.

Sophomore Jess Meek also turned into a solid performance for Mizzou, shooting 3-over par on the weekend, good for an 11th place finish. Meek fell out of the top ten on Sunday, however, as she shot a 74, her worst round of the tournament.

Michelle Butler and Laura Kraft tied for 43rd with a weekend score of 14-over par. Senior Alina Rogers kicked off the second half of her final season with the Tigers and finished in 46th place. Rogers struggled mightily on Friday and Saturday, but improved Sunday, ending the day just 1-over.

The Tigers travel cross-country next to play in San Jose, CA on Feb. 23 and 24.
