Zech leads Missouri Golf to Win Patriot Intercollegiate

The Missouri Golf team has come out swinging, finishing in first place in two of their first three events. This weekend at the Patriot Intercollegiate in Lorton, VA the team’s success continued.

George Mason hosted the 17-team event was hosted by George Mason at the Laurel Hill Golf Club. Senior Ryan Zech shot a four under par 67 to lead Mizzou to a slim three shot win over Marshall (851-854).

Zech won the individual title in dramatic fashion by birding the par-five 18th hole to edge out Drexel’s Christopher Crawford and Marshall’s Clark Robinson by a stroke.

Missouri junior Wilson Sundvoid tied for 15th with fellow teammate Jacob Fair. Sundvoid shot a 3-under-par 68, shooting a 3-under-par on the front nine but a double bogey on the 15th hole kept him from a career low 66.

Sophomore Euan Walker finished ninth overall, shooting two over par on Monday and finishing with his ninth career top 10 finish. Freshman Luigi Botta shot a 73 to finish tied for 20th.

Fellow freshman Hayden Buckley competed as an individual in the event and finished two shots out of the Top 25.

Missouri’s next tournament is on Oct. 10 at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Jonesborough Tenn.
